Planted By God to Display His Glory -Isaiah 61:3

Today I’m joining The Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday. The rules? Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking. Today’s topic: REST

Rest

I roll the r’s around in my mouth and try to taste it.

But life is sometimes bitter yet beautiful in its busy-ness. And rest eludes me.

But it lives in my memories…

Cool mountain breezes caressing my face as I gaze at the snow-capped mountains in all their splendor.

Warm ocean breezes that cuddle me with sun mellowed warmth as I dig my toes in the sand.

Rest.

My body longs for the rhythm of the breath of rest. My soul for the healing room where rest dwells.

My mind dreams of the altitude and the deepness of rest. My fingers long to grasp it.

And never let go of its eternity…

Time’s up! Join in the fun and write your own five minutes on REST. Click on the link to The Gypsy Mama below.

  1. From the title to the very last line, this is BEAUTIFUL!

  2. Beautiful! And I love, “bitter yet beautiful in its busyness.”

  3. I loved this line: My mind dreams of the altitude and the deepness of rest. My fingers long to grasp it. Such a beautiful post.

  4. great job.
    a solid good read.
as you stated…what rest looks like changes with our surroundings…
however it is up to us to find it.

  5. “My body longs for the rhythm of the breath of rest.
My soul for the healing room where rest dwells.”

As I read these two lines, my body and my soul burst out shouting, “ME, TOO! ME, TOO!”

Thanks for putting my deepest longings into words~

  6. Thoughtful, restful ………and I love the ocean picture, being by the ocean restores my soul, that, too, is rest.
